Every year on the Fourth of July, we gather for cookouts, fireworks, parades, and family celebrations.
And we should.
America’s birthday is worth celebrating.
But somewhere between the burgers and the fireworks, it’s important to remember what we’re actually celebrating.
Freedom.
Not comfort.
Not convenience.
Freedom.
The freedom to speak our minds.
The freedom to worship as we choose.
The freedom to build a life according to our own values.
The freedom to disagree.
The freedom to dream.
The freedom to fail and try again.
None of those freedoms happened by accident.
And none of them came without sacrifice.
Generations of Americans have served, fought, worked, struggled, and sacrificed to preserve the liberties we often take for granted.
Some paid with years of their lives.
Some paid with their health.
Some paid the ultimate price.
That’s why I believe Independence Day should be more than a party.
It should also be a reminder.
Because freedom isn’t something you inherit and forget about.
It’s something you protect.
Something you value.
Something you refuse to take for granted.
And that’s where complacency becomes dangerous.
History is filled with people who assumed freedom would always be there.
Who believed someone else would protect it.
Who stopped paying attention.
Who became comfortable.
The problem is that freedom rarely disappears all at once.
It fades when people stop caring.
It weakens when people stop participating.
It erodes when people decide somebody else will handle it.
The older I get, the more I appreciate how fragile liberty really is.
Not because America is weak.
But because freedom requires responsibility.
It requires engaged citizens.
It requires courage.
It requires people willing to stand up when it’s easier to sit down.
This country isn’t perfect.
No country is.
But it remains one of the greatest experiments in self-government the world has ever seen.
And that’s worth celebrating.
So enjoy the fireworks.
Eat the hot dogs.
Wave the flag.
Spend time with the people you love.
But take a moment today to remember what makes this day different.
Freedom isn’t free.
And neither is complacency.
Happy Independence Day.
God bless America.

We all know why the democrats won't be voting for this act! That would mean they would vote themselves out of money, power and a job! None of them could ever make the money they are stealing from the American tax payers. Most of them are not smart enough to land a legit job!!! The truth hurts!
